Who put the goat in there?

I found this video rather hilarious with its use of non-translated subtitles. Check it out, if you dare!

How many 5-year-olds could you take in a fight?

One of the more interesting internet quizzes that I've come across.

20

Long ago, before I went in the military, I did do some part-time work at a day care. I broke up a couple of fights, but never had to participate directly in any of them. :)

Guilty Pleasures

When the weather is really nice here in the middle of winter (like today, it's in the 70's) I enjoy looking at the current weather for where I used to live in Wisconsin. Especially when they're having a blizzard or deep freeze. "Wow, 10 degrees there with heavy snow, huh? Guess I'll change into shorts and a t-shirt and go outside for a walk!" I also found a webcam that's fun to watch when it's snowing there, which is where the above picture came from.

Actually, I liked Wisconsin (although not my prior company) pretty well, and there are some things I miss...even some times of year, like early fall. But I definitely don't miss the winters.

Getting the Engine started again...

Wow, damn! Has it been a month? Nope, actually, it's been more like SIX WEEKS since I posted. Time flies.

Laziness hasn't been the only reason for my not posting here, actually. I've been kind of trying to decide what I want to do with this blog, where I want it to go next, and I'm struggling on that front. I really don't care about the amount of traffic I get (however, for those few of you who regularly read my posts, and are reading this now after my mini-hiatus, I really do appreciate your visiting) but I'm kind of torn on what to do next here. Longer posts? Continue my "airline chronicles" series? Should I make it more of an aviation-themed blog, or a personal one? More multimedia? More pictures? I dunno. So if anyone is still reading this and has some thoughts on the matter, give me a shout out in the comments.

December went fairly well, other than having to work every single holiday in existence, and the day of and the day after my office's holiday party. Oh well. Such is life in the airline industry. I also had trouble coming back to town after visiting my relative's place in my pre-Christmas trip up there, and ended up being about 30 minutes late to work due to all the flights running late that day. Serves me right for cutting things too close, I guess. Next time I'll drive. Of course, I say that, and next time my car will probably break down halfway back from there.

Possibly due to stress overwhelming my immune system worrying about making it to work that day, I picked up a nasty chest cold right after that trip, and it took over two weeks for the thing to go away. Consumption of Sudafed, Mucinex, and Kleenex was high. Housekeeping suffered and I still haven't fully got my apartment in shape again, but we will get there.

I am on graveyard shifts now, although I've only worked one so far (on the night of New Year's Day.) We'll see how that goes. Will take a bit of adjusting to, but I have worked them before, when I was in the military, and at various times during my aviation career, so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. If I can't stand them, I'll have a chance to bid off of them in a couple months.

Reading all this, it might sound like I've had a TERRIBLE two months or something, and it really hasn't been that bad. I've just been busy, but I haven't been non-stop miserable either. I did get a chance to take a couple mini-trips (one in October, and the one I just mentioned, in December) that were both fun. I had Thanksgiving off, and Mom was able to come out here so that was nice. Mom has been having some issues with her caregivers lately (she doesn't like that we've increased the number of hours per day) but there's not a whole lot we can do about that.

I do need to start eating better, and using my gym membership. I have been quite lazy about that, especially when my cold was at its worst. I'll let you know how that goes.

Oh, and in reference to this post's title, my car has been giving me issues starting lately (it's been kind of cold for here lately...not Wisconsin cold or anything, but below freezing several mornings) yet the battery didn't seem to be completely dying either. I took it to AutoZone yesterday, and the battery tester there said it just needed charging. So, I took the battery out myself (and I'm not very much of a mechanic, so THAT was fun, but I did get it done without too much fanfare) and they charged it for free. We'll see if it solves the problem next time we have a cold snap here. It did start this morning, but it was above freezing and I turned the key twice, so I'm still not convinced. However, a new battery is something I can afford, and install myself, if I have to.

Hope everyone has been doing well, had more holidays off than I did, and is having a great 2008 so far! More stuff coming soon (well, sooner than my last break.) I'll try and write about my fall trip over the weekend. Talk to you all later!
